Tattoos are inconstant. When you first get them, they are sensitive to sunlight, water, sweat, and any other bodily or elemental functions that occur naturally when you leave the house. You can’t go swimming in salt water or spend a day sunbathing on the beach without putting your brand new piece of art at risk. This is why it is absolutely crucial that you take care of your new ink as you would any other part of your body, in which case you will need one of the the best tattoo maintenance products.
If you don’t take good care of your tattoo During the first few weeks of healing, you are at risk of discoloration, scarring, infection, etc. It’s not just about keeping your tattoo fresh and crisp, but also keeping that new wound on your body safe from any unwanted bacteria that could damage more than your ink.
I contacted an expert tattoo artist, Joseph bryce, on the best aftercare products for any new tattoo, which range from moisturizers and ointments to dressings. Bryce also shared with us his specific aftercare instructions for keeping your tattoo beautiful and free from any potential irritants:
Wash yourself twice a day with one of the best tattoo cleaning soaps.
Keep your tattoo clean and dry.
Moisturize with an unscented lotion.
Avoid direct sunlight while healing.
Keep in mind that your tattoo will scab and look milky for up to two weeks, so DO NOT: pick, scratch, soak, or swim.
While these instructions are crucial for a successful tattoo aftercare, you should always know exactly which products are the main must-haves from our resident expert himself. Read on to find out, coming soon.
