Organizations join forces to support local tattoo shop hit by devastating fire


Community members put their hands on the deck to raise funds for the Handsome Cabin Boy tattoo shop, which was found engulfed in flames on the morning of July 20.

The fire is considered “suspicious” and is said to have caused approximately $ 200,000 in damage.

A few hours after the news of the fire, a GoFundMe page has been created, raising thousands of dollars in the first 24 hours.

He has since raised $ 21,775, exceeding the initial goal of $ 20,000.

Now another local tattoo shop is joining the fundraising efforts with a Flash Day on Monday August 2.

Sabrina Dendulk, manager of the Gold Tooth Grin Tattoos store, says she has already generated a lot of interest in fundraising from community members.

“For the most part, we just want to promote a great sense of community in the tattoo industry, and we’re also local business owners, so we really feel for local businesses when things like this happen,” she explained.

On Monday, Gold Tooth Grin artists will feature pre-drawn flash designs with fixed prices of $ 80 and up.

Gold Tooth Grin will open at 10 a.m. on the day of the flash, and allow 5 people at a time to come and choose a design, once the design is chosen, the client will wait to be contacted by the artist a once he’s ready to start.

“We’re going to start taking names and phone numbers once people have decided which room they would like and then as the day goes on we call them up, then they come and we tattoo the flash on them,” he said. -she explains.

100% of Flash Day proceeds will go to Handsome Cabin Boy.

“For the artists themselves too, all of their supplies and everything has been burnt in the fire, so it’s thousands of dollars that the artists themselves now have to cover and we really think of them, so we want to make sure that we can give them a good step forward and help them start over, ”Dendulk added.

This Sunday, another event is being organized to raise funds for the store as well.

Fundraising concert takes place at Bydand Creek Farm in Salmon Valley, local artists will perform including Scribbens and Danny Bell, as well as Folky Strum Strum from Rolla, BC.

Food and drinks will also be available for purchase at the show, and a silent auction table will also be available with items donated by local businesses.
