Friday the 13th tattoo deals: where to find cheap tattoos on August 13th

If you are planning to participate in the Friday the 13th tattoo ritual this year, be prepared for it to be unconventional.

Every Friday the 13th, tattoo parlors across the country host a marathon night. Usually these are long queues and inexpensive tattoos. Guests choose a small design on a flash sheet – a set of pre-made tattoos designed, often by in-house artists – and get it inked. The demand can make artists sweat, with some stores open for 24 hours.

This setup, however, is not what you’re going to see everywhere next Friday. Fewer stores are participating and most have precautions in place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The tradition was popularized by artist Oliver Peck in Dallas. Now you will find it in just about any city with a tattoo shop. Often times, you’ll find that small tattoos cost $ 13 plus a “lucky” (and mandatory) tip of $ 7. Some places go with $ 31 and a mandatory $ 9 tip. Other shows will go even closer to what you would typically pay on another day. Those interested in participating should note that all performers are happy to accept tips above the mandatory price.

With tattoos at such a low price, it’s worth remembering that you should be kind to your artist. Often times, they don’t do much on your tattoo when they offer these kinds of big discounts. “The store doesn’t do $$ on Friday the 13th,” New York’s Daredevil Tattoo wrote on its site. “It actually cost us $$ and we are very tired at the end of the day so we really appreciate the good words and all the good reviews you can leave us online.” Plus, artists will appreciate additional financial gratuity, especially when showing up during a pandemic.

Paul Collurafici of Chicago’s Tattoo Factory, who doesn’t get tattoos on Friday the 13th, previously told Thrillist that you should “watch out for shortcuts.” Participating stores will receive a lot of customers throughout the day. “Counters and chairs should be wiped down with sanitary wipes after each tattoo,” he says. “Needles and tubes must be in sterile packaging sealed and opened in front of [you]. New ink has leaked while [you] look. “That was advice for participating before the pandemic, so be doubly sure to see that cleanliness this week.

With that in mind, here are stores across the country that offer tattoos on Friday the 13th. Be sure to check with your local salon for details, as the procedure varies from location to location and. details may change at the last minute. Additionally, check the store’s social media on the morning of Friday the 13th to make sure certain events haven’t been canceled or changed due to the pandemic.
