Elderly residents of an assisted living facility in Texas don’t let quarantine dampen their morale.

The staff at Wesley House Assisted Living in Hillsboro, TX decided to throw a happy hour with booze and tattoos in an effort to put a smile on their residents’ faces.

“This quarantine is driving us crazy!” the establishment wrote on Facebook. “I had a few drinks and got a tattoo!”

Activity Director Susie Castillo came up with this month’s tattoo theme.

“The idea for the tattoo came from me planning this month’s happy hour and thinking, wow, (it’s) August already, it’s crazy!” Castillo told KETV. “We are going crazy! So I was like what the hell do people do when they drink? Get tattoos !!”

Each month, staff host a happy hour with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to entertain their residents during their fifth month in lockdown. Castillo says she’s trying to come up with creative ideas to cheer everyone up.

“We also celebrated Christmas in July where we went through the halls to play Christmas music with a decorated tree and gave all residents a Christmas present and cookies,” Castillo said. “I dressed up as Santa Claus and a cow on ice cream days. We are doing our best to keep our residents happy and we have been extremely lucky to keep them COVID free!”
