60 Terrific Tombstone Tattoos – Tattoo Ideas, Artists and Designs

Death is something that unites all human beings and for many of us we will be immortalized with a tombstone. Headstones, also called tombstones or tombstones, are used as markers on a grave. They are commonly used in Christian, Jewish and Muslim religions, often including the deceased’s name, date of birth and date of death. They also frequently feature a personal message, a prayer, an inset photograph and/or funerary artwork.

For the most part, tombstones are made of stone, with some of the most commonly used being granite and marble. Other times, field stones, sandstone, slate, and shale can be used. There are also older examples of wooden, iron and white bronze tombstones. Over the years many different symbols have been incorporated into gravestones and each has a different specific meaning. For example, anchors represent unshakable hope. A broken column represents premature death. A horseshoe represents protection against evil. And a pillow represents eternal sleep.

Over the past few decades, many famous movies and television shows have incorporated cemetery scenes featuring headstones. Some of our favorites include “Steel Magnolias” (1989), “Pet Semetary”, (1989) “Night of the Living Dead” (1990) and “Hocus Pocus” (1993).
