While it’s generally okay to forget about New Years Resolutions, we believe everyone deserves better tattoos in 2020. That’s why we’ve put together a short list of tattoo resolutions that any client can stick to. . That’s right, there are no excuses people! Take a look at our New Year’s resolutions in the gallery below, then let us know your resolutions in the comments section.

1. Take good care of your tattoos

Aftercare is extremely important to the tattooing process and will ensure that your ink will hold up well after you leave the tattoo parlor. Although each tattoo artist has their own recommendations, we advise clients to use products like saniderm / tegaderm, which is a translucent film worn over the tattoo that helps the healing process. The film is worn for the first 24 hours and then removed to allow the customer to clean up any ink or plasma residue. Then a new film is applied and worn for 5-7 days, revealing a scarred tattoo underneath.

If these products are not your jam, we recommend that you keep the packaging for several hours and then remove them to clean the tattoo with warm soapy water. After gently drying the tattoo, apply your favorite treatment balm for two days, then switch to an unscented lotion. The most important thing to remember is to use a very small amount of post-operative care and / or lotion, as this can lead to irritation and rashes.

2. Travel for your next tattoo

While we think it’s great to support artists in your hometown, there’s a whole world of tattoo artists waiting for you. Whether you’re traveling to the next city, state, or another country, get out of your box and travel the distance for your next tattoo. A tattoo is something that you will have for the rest of your time, so taking the time and spending the money to travel for a room is well worth it. Plus, you can make it a fun weekend!

3. Cover your ink with sunscreen

If you want your tattoos to stay vibrant and fresh for years to come, protect your skin at all costs. While you must wear sunscreen anyway, we strongly recommend that you soap yourself up during the summer months. There is nothing worse than spoiling a tattoo because of a reckless day at the beach, and you should be worried about the job you are spending hundreds of dollars on. Tattoos are investments and deserve to be treated with care!

4. Do your research

Research is extremely important to finding your next tattoo artist and in 2019 it’s easier than ever. There is no excuse why you can’t find an amazing artist, especially with social media. There are hundreds if not thousands of amazing artists and it is important for clients to realize that their dreams can come true if they are willing to work on their own. But the search doesn’t stop with finding a great artist, it’s about finding the right artist for your unique vision. There is an artist for every style, subject and price, you just have to find him.

5. Laser an unwanted tattoo and get a badass cover-up

You’ve been saying for years that you want your bum stamp removed and 2020 is your year, baby! Stop procrastinating and make an appointment with a laser technician. Although the process of removing a tattoo is long and painful, it is well worth it. You don’t have to live with a tattoo you hate and we recommend that you approach the next decade with a plan to start from scratch.
