If you love your ink with a symbolic side and a hidden meaning, flower tattoos are the way to go. Flowers of all kinds tend to be a popular choice across the country, especially for first-time customers. They can easily be reduced to the delicate sizes that have been trending on Instagram in recent years. At the same time, they look just as pretty when enlarged to cover your torso or arms. And since they tend to have positive connotations (like love, a fresh start, and happiness), there’s very little chance you’ll ever want to remove them.
âA lot of my requests are for flower tattoos because of the different meanings behind them,â says the Seoul-based artist. Hongdam, whose meticulously detailed sketches and delicate aesthetics have made it popular around the world. “I think they can be a good design for anyone.”
Hongdam recommends coming up with reference images that show the exact style you want and then thinking about how you would like your tattoo to look on your body. âThere are no rules for choosing the location, but sometimes I will recommend where the design would work well,â he says. Ultimately, however, it’s up to you. âAs this lasts a lifetime, you have to choose where you want it,â he adds.
To help you narrow down your credentials, we’ve rounded up the coolest flower tattoos and floral designs from our favorite artists and asked them to share the meanings of each.
