I know one thing is true and only one thing: Reese’s Puffs theme slams. Cereals are an integral part of American food culture, and many of us spent our childhood relishing in these sweet breakfast treats. There are so many iconic cereals, many of which come with an equally legendary mascot.
One of our favorite cereal mascots, Tony the Tiger was introduced to the general public on a box of Frosted Flakes in 1952. His original design was created by graphic designer Eugene Kolkey and art director Leo Burnett. Later, Tony was brought to life by an animation team known as Quartet Films, who also animated the Rice Krispies’ Snap, Crackle and Pop. Another very popular cereal mascot, Toucan Sam, debuted in 1963 and was designed by Manuel R. Vega. Toucan Sam was first voiced by Mel Blanc, who also voiced Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and Barney Rubble. Some of our other favorite cereal mascots include Horatio Magellin Crunch (aka Cap’n Crunch), the Trix Bunny from Trix, Lucky the Pixie from Lucky Charms, Buzz from Honey Nut Cheerios, and Sugar Bear from Golden Crisp.
