11 hilarious tattoo pranks – tattoo ideas, artists and models

To say that the past year has been difficult, frustrating and often exhausting would be an understatement to end all euphemisms. Sometimes you have to step away from the rest of the world and have a laugh or two before you get back on your feet and face whatever other challenges the day decides to bring you. While pranks tend to be over the top and downright cruel and mean, here are 10 tattoo-based pranks we know you’ll love and hopefully brighten up your day!

Harry Styles Face Tattoo

As someone with a portrait of the Queen band on my arm, I am the last person who can criticize anyone’s decision to put their favorite musicians on their body. Although I’m a fan of Harry Styles, the last place I’d dare to put a tattoo of him is on my face, which singer-songwriter Kelsy Karter did in 2019, but everyone’s their own. Fortunately, the tattoo turned out to be a fake and a promotion for her single “Harry”, but it certainly gave the internet a good butt and a good eyebrow.

tattoo joke 180

Sometimes pranks don’t turn out the way we expect, as this TikTok user discovered when she tried to prank her best friend with a fake arm sleeve. Hope you have better luck next time!

twin tattoo joke

What’s the point of even having a twin if you don’t use them to prank unsuspecting tattoo artists and make them think the new tattoo you just sat down on has fallen and returned to a blank canvas? ? Seems a bit spoiled to me from a twin.

Scream joke tattoo

It’s not the question of whether getting a tattoo hurts, but how much will it hurt? Of course, everyone’s pain tolerance levels will vary, and what some people can sit down calmly may be where another person is most uncomfortable. However, we hope that whatever your pain tolerance is, you can manage your pain better than this guy, no matter how hilarious to watch!

Mom’s classic joke

Tattoos seem to be every parent’s worst nightmare. We all know someone who has a history of their parents hating their tattoos, but it’s fun to see the reactions of parents when the tattoo is fake. Just another friendly reminder to parents that you no longer have any control over what your children choose to do with their bodies after a certain age.

Neck tattoo stuffing

Sometimes pranks fail because your parent is a tattoo artist, but it never hurts to try, especially if it’s a temporary tattoo. If you are planning to prank your family with a fake neck tattoo, let this TikTok remind you of what not to do and watch out for you who are trying to prank. It’s always easier to prank someone with a fake tattoo who doesn’t have industry knowledge and years of experience, especially if they’ve tattooed your skin in the past.

Tattoo removal stuffing

Not all pranks involve making people think you have a new or ridiculous tattoo. Some involve seeing if your loved ones even notice that all of your ink is gone! It’s a little heartwarming to see that your loved ones can look beyond the ink, but at the same time, I would be upset if mine didn’t notice that my tattoos were gone overnight!

Name tattoo joke

Getting your partner’s name tattooed is honestly the riskiest tattoo I can think of. You never know how long the relationship will last, and tattoos are known to be permanent. We are happy that in this case this tattoo is fake.

Baby tattoo joke

I shouldn’t have to remind you of this, but please don’t tattoo your babies. Tattoos will just be stretched and wobbly as they get older. However, put all the fake tattoos you want on your little critters, they are cute and hilarious!

Beatboxing Prank Tattoo Needle

There is something oddly heartwarming about the sound of a tattoo machine, unless it seems to be making that sound on its own, then it gets unnerving. While many tattoo pranks focus on fake tattoos, seeing a prank involving beatboxing is not only talented and innovative, but harmless fun too!

And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention one of our own pranks here. In 2016, our intrepid editor decided it was a good idea to pretend to get a tattoo to celebrate a certain orange-skinned presidential candidate. We wrote an article about it on the April Fools website and nobody cared. There was no click. It was a total failure. But around September, the image began to circulate on the Internet. And since then, it’s been a widely circulated meme that just won’t die. You have no idea how often said editor had to answer phone calls and texts from friends and family to let him know things have gone viral again. Sigh.
