100 Fabulous Furby Tattoos – Tattoo Ideas, Artists and Designs

1998 was a big year for popular culture. “Mulan” and “A Bug’s Life” hit theaters. Britney Spears released “…Baby One More Time”. “Sex and the City” debuted on HBO. And the Furby was released by Tiger Electronics. Furby was invented by David Hampton and Caleb Chung, quickly becoming one of the hottest toys of the year. A staggering 40 million Furbies were sold in their first three years of production, including 1.8 million in 1998 and 14 million in 1999. They gained international appeal as they could be translated into 24 different languages .

Initially, the Furbies spoke human languages, but today they primarily speak Furbish, a language unique to the toy. Their first claim to fame was being able to learn language skills as you used them, and communicating with each other via an infrared port between their eyes. While Furbies hit their peak at the start of the new millennium, many iterations of the toys have been released over the years, including Furby Babies, Shelbies, Furby Party Rockers, and Furby Connect. Furbies have even been created to look like popular characters, including Gizmo from “The Gremlins,” ET from “ET the Extra-Terrestrial,” and Chewbacca from “Star Wars.”

Furbies have even made their way into the tattoo world, with collectors putting their own creative spin on nostalgic toys. Take a look at 100 of our favorite Furby tattoos in the gallery below and let us know if you got a Furby in the comments section on social media.
